Hello, I am Lindsay! In the tapestry of my life, I am a storyteller and a moment-capturer, navigating a world colored by the lens of my experiences. A childhood bicycle accident left me 100% blind in my left eye at the tender age of five, a hurdle that could have dimmed my vision, but instead fueled my passion for photography. Against the odds, I delved into the art, starting with film photography. I fondly remember spending hours upon hours in my college darkroom, not simply developing my film, but experimenting with both different chemical reactions with film development and playing with light as I made my prints. I loved to play around and see what I could create.
While I was always drawn to both photography and the captivating essence of babies, it wasn’t until the arrival of my first child in 2008 that the pieces fell into place and I discovered my passion for newborn photography. Immersed in the joy of photographing my own baby, I realized the profound connection between my love for photography and the enchanting world of newborns. From there, my passion took flight, and I specialized in newborn photography, photographing Sarasota area newborns for over a decade, and infusing each frame with the depth of my unique perspective. Along with newborn photography, I also discovered a passion for fiber arts, and not only knitted the majority of the hats and crafted the majority of the newborn headbands I would use in my newborn photo shoots, I also sold hats and headbands to other photographers, making sales all around the world.
Despite my success, I also was simultaneously experiencing many severe and unique struggles along my life’s journey that were different from my peers, and I sought answers. At age 32, I was diagnosed with autism, which made perfect sense of my struggles, and was a lot to process. At this time, I had just gotten out of another abusive relationship, and I was (understandably) extremely traumatized and burnt out. I took a hiatus from client photography to focus on raising my five children (including a set of twins!) and to try to find myself and heal.
It was during this hiatus that I delved into photography beyond the lens of my professional journey. I am a devoted parent, and I became more compelled to creatively capture the every day moments and intricacies of life with my own children. Along this journey, I also discovered and dove into the world of self portraits, instantly captivated by the challenge of capturing photographs that document my unique journey that weaves a tapestry of emotions. I honed my craft over the years, transforming personal experiences into visual tales. This dedication to storytelling and artistic expression led me to the esteemed Click Pro community, where my photography found resonance among fellow creatives.
In my life’s journey, the challenge of visual impairment and the unique perspective of living on the autism spectrum became a catalyst for a distinct visual language. Each photograph is a testament to resilience, an invitation to see the world through a different lens, and a celebration of the vibrant stories that unfold in the midst of life’s moments. I am honored to share this journey with you, capturing the magic of every day life and the kaleidoscope of life’s narratives, one frame at a time.
